Full course description
ONLINE COURSE for adults ages 50 and older!
The Renaissance in Italy did not happen overnight. It developed gradually during the 14th century against a backdrop of war, famine and plague. How this came to be is one of the most fascinating studies in all of art history. From the teachings of St. Francis and the writings of Petrarch artists such as Giotto, Duccio, and Nicolo Pisano became aware of the natural world and the art of classical Greece and Rome. These crucial ingredients eventually fueled the flowering of the Renaissance in 15th century Italy and paved the way for the art of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.
