Full course description

Description

IN-PERSON class for adults ages 50 and older!

This course will discuss the life and success of Bing Crosby. Bing was one of the biggest stars of recorded music. He invested in both audio and video tape companies before any other recording star did so. Known for his recognizable singing style, crooning, Bing was well known around the world. His next conquest was the radio air waves. Bing went to Hollywood in the 1930s. His success was slow in coming. In the 1940s, Bing Crosby was the most popular male actor in Hollywood with hit movies like the “Road Pictures” and “Holiday Inn.” Bing achieved great success playing Father O’Malley in both “Going My Way” and “The Bells of St. Mary’s.” Bing Crosby was a very successful investor. One of his successful investments was his foresight to invest in and become the face of frozen orange juice. When television sets became a staple of American homes, Bing was there as both a performer and producer. His personal life was at times troubled. His relationship with his first wife, Dixie, was difficult. His relationship with his sons from his first marriage was a challenge. After Dixie died and Bing remarried, he was a more successful father and husband. Bing was quite an entertainer.
