Full course description
IN-PERSON COURSE for adults ages 50 and older!
Most people think of a cemetery as a place where the remains of people who have died are laid to rest in specific, identifiable burial sites. They are widely regarded as sacred places that are entrusted with caring for deceased individuals. A visit to a cemetery can be a lot of things to different people. It can be a place of healing, reflection, catharsis, sharing memories, saying prayers, or a place to ascertain our area’s history through its ancestors. In this program, we will learn about some of Lorain County’s cemeteries. We will start our day in the classroom learning their origins, view unique gravestones, discover sites of famous people, and more. After a brief lunch, we will follow with a bus tour where we will view several of Lorain County’s unique cemeteries.
