Description
What happened after the High Renaissance? The dominant trend was dubbed Mannerism. This was a courtly art that stressed elegance and luxury. Michelangelo had anticipated it in the Sistine Chapel. The artists who followed him, El Greco, Parmigianino, Bronzino, Correggio, Palladio, and Tintoretto combined elements of Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Titian in devising a revolutionary style that eventually would lead to the Baroque.
