Full course description
IN-PERSON COURSE for adults ages 50 and older!
This course will briefly show the highs and the lows of the great singer and actor, Francis Albert Sinatra. One of New Jersey’s favorite sons, Frank had to work hard to be a successful singer. He played small clubs in New Jersey in his youth. Frank and his group won the grand prize on the Major Bowe’s radio show. Frank attracted the attention of the band leader, Harry James and later Tommy Dorsey. After WWII, Frank became a bigger sensation. Frank Sinatra performed live shows that attracted his most loyal fans, the bobbysoxers. In the early 1950s. Frank had to quit singing because he ruptured his vocal chords. With therapy and medical treatment, Frank slowly made his way back into the spotlight. Although Frank had appeared in several movies in the 1940s, with co-stars like Gene Kelly, he had not received any significant film roles. “From Here to Eternity” changed all that for Frank. He campaigned hard to play the role of Maggio. Frank even paid the money to make an audition tape for the head of Columbia Pictures. After winning an Oscar for this movie, Frank Sinatra was in demand for movies, records, concerts and television. The course will also discuss his 4 marriages. Frank Sinatra was an American original.
