Full course description
LIVE IN-PERSON COURSE for adults ages 50 and older!
When movie fans talk about their favorite actors, one man’s name is always mentioned, John Wayne. John Wayne began his career in silent movies and ended his career in a Western movie called The Shootist in 1976. His story both on and off the screen is complex and very interesting. This course will discuss his birth in Winterset, Iowa, his experiences at USC as a football player, his work as a property man and a scenery mover in silent films, his long career in cheaply made Westerns, his name change and his extensive movie career. The course will also discuss his 3 marriages, children, and his dedication to his craft of acting. We will review some interesting facts about John Wayne that you may not know. For example, John Wayne made 13 movies with the director, John Ford. John Ford was Wayne’s favorite director and was a good friend, but he treated John badly in every movie they made together.
