Description
LIVE CLASS HELD IN-PERSON for adults ages 50 and older!
One of the most extraordinary movements in painting was the development of hard edge non-objective geometric painting (painting without a recognizable subject) in America at mid-century. These 20th century artists challenged the notion that art must be a reflection of the observable world. Bold geometric abstract shapes, brightly colored, replaced landscapes, farm and urban scenes that had thrived in America for half a century. Ellsworth Kelly, Louis Morris, Barnett Newman, and Frank Stella helped create a new art form that fully expresses the spirit of the 60's.
