Claude Monet is considered the definitive Impressionist. His life and art were filled with rejection, abject poverty, personal tragedy, and finally, glorious success. His water lily paintings were a symphony of color, technique, and expressive freedom. Monet's art has enchanted generations of followers. He is the most influential Impressionist today.
