Jun 18, 2026 - Jun 18, 2026
Full course description
IN-PERSON COURSE for adults ages 50 and older!
Mary Cassatt and Georgia O'Keeffe were our first great American female painters. Mary Cassatt introduced America to Impressionism. Georgia O'Keeffe was cultured in the intellectual environment of Gallery 291 which was owned by her future husband Alfred Stiegliz. In this famous meeting place for New York painters, collectors, and photographers, O'Keeffe would meet artists such as Arthur Dove, Marsden Hartley, and Charles Demuth that would help mold her style. Both Cassatt and O'Keeffe were early adherents to feminist attitudes and were important to establishing those doctrines for later generations of women.
