LIVE IN-PERSON COURSE for adults ages 50 and older!
This course will discuss the life and careers of Shirley Temple. Shirley Temple was the leading star of 20th Century Fox in the 1930s. Discovered as a toddler, Shirley became Fox's most financially successful performer. Her co-stars included John Boles, Bill Bojangles Robinson, Stu Erwin and Buddy Ebsen. Shirley was courted by MGM to play Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. However, Shirley's mother did not approve and the part was given to Judy Garland. After 20th Century Fox cancelled her contract, Shirley, with her mother, acted for several film studios including Selznick International. By the early 1950s , Shirley's film career was over. With her 2nd husband's approval, Shirley began her 2nd career in politics.
