Course
NEW! The Amarna Style: Ancient Egyptian Art During the Reigns of Akhenaten and Tutankhamun
Nov 5, 2026 - Nov 5, 2026
Full course description
Description
The style of Ancient Egyptian art was the most consistent and long lasting of any civilization in history. However, for a short period of time in the 14th century BCE, it changed due to the dictates of a revolutionary Pharaoh named Akhenaten. This new Amarna style was characterized by a more naturalistic aesthetic. This style persisted into the reign of his son Tutankhamun whose tomb treasures give us the most complete examples of this new dynamic art style.
