Description

The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood was a group of English painters who wanted to reform art by returning it to the clear colors, complex compositions, and exquisite detail of the Early Renaissance in Italy. They focused on romantic stories of faraway lands, characters from plays and operas, mystical folklore, medieval tales of knights, and legends and myths from literary sources. Their most famous painters were Donte Gabriel Rossetti, John Everett Millais, and William Holman Hunt.
