ONLINE CLASS for adults ages 50 and older!
The study of the Underground Railroad in Lorain County offers a unique opportunity for students to reach into the depths of Underground Railroad activity in Lorain County. Ohio’s and Federal legislative enactments igniting the spark for the Underground Railroad movement is the introduction and the major theme of the course. The unique feature of this course contains authentic historical documentation disclosing prominent statesmen, businessmen, clergy, and ordinary citizens who risk their freedom to actively participate in the Underground Railroad movement. Special attention will be made to the famous Oberlin-Wellington trial, based on the successful slave rescue mission in Wellington. This section of the course will focus on the legal ramifications of the rescue.
