IN-PERSON CLASS for adults ages 50 and older!
The epic tales of the Iliad and the Odyssey, the mystery of King Minos, the labyrinth of the Minotaur, the bravery of Achilles, and the golden death mask once believed to belong to Agamemnon—these legendary stories are vividly reflected in the art of the ancient Aegean world. From the elegant Cycladic figurines to the vibrant frescoes of Crete and the treasures of Mycenae, this lecture explores the cultures that flourished in the 2nd millennium BCE, where the roots of Western artistic tradition were first laid.
