Full course description
IN-PERSON COURSE for adults ages 50 and older!
On April 15, 2019, a devastating fire ravaged the iconic Gothic cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris, obliterating the spire and collapsing the cross-vaulting over the transept. Almost immediately after the flames were extinguished, an unprecedented global campaign launched to restore this architectural masterpiece. Master artisans, engineers, and historians united in a monumental effort to bring the cathedral back to life. This presentation explores the evolution of Christian church architecture—from Early Christian basilicas to the towering achievements of the Gothic age—culminating in a close look at the rebirth and reopening of this beloved national treasure.
