It’s a 400 year old love story. Elizabeth I scandalized the royal court with her affection and fondness for the married courtier Robert Dudley. She was a powerful ruler, he was her counselor, unofficial royal consort, army commander, and at times, her special agent. He yearned for the heart and “hand” of Elizabeth and sometimes even became the liaison between Elizabeth & other suitors.
