For Kids Ages 9-12
Four-Day Art Adventure: Clay, Sun & Storytelling Join us for a hands-on, creativity-packed art journey where ancient traditions meet sun-powered magic! This four-day class invites young artists to explore two exciting art forms while learning the stories behind them.
Days 1–2: Pueblo Pottery – Art with a Story Led by a Native American instructor, students will dive into the rich tradition of Pueblo pottery. Kids will learn how pottery has been used for centuries for daily life, ceremonies, and storytelling. Using hand-building techniques (no pottery wheel!), students will shape, decorate, and personalize their own clay pieces while hearing age-appropriate history and cultural stories woven naturally into the process. Expect muddy hands, lots of imagination, and a deep respect for tradition.
Days 3–4: Cyanotype – Painting with the Sun Next, we’ll switch gears and experiment with cyanotype, a magical photographic art process that uses sunlight to create brilliant blueprints. Students will arrange natural objects, drawings, and textures, then watch their designs transform outdoors in the sun. It’s science-meets-art, full of surprises and “wow” moments!
This class is perfect for curious kids who love to create, explore new cultures, and try something totally different. No prior art experience needed—just enthusiasm and a willingness to get creative!
