Full course description

Description

An introductory and exploratory hands-on training course in semiconductor processing in a cleanroom. Trainees will explore career pathways, semiconductor manufacturing career skills, and academic pathways in semiconductor processing. Trainees will be required to gown up in nitrile gloves, frocks/bunnysuits, masks, hoods, and booties for the majority of the training session. Topics covered include why gown up for a cleanroom and an overview of semiconductor manufacturing. Hands-on coursework include photolithography and thin film sputtering using a vacuum deposition system. Chemical handling required, all personal protective equipment will be worn during chemical handling, we ask all trainees to wear pants and shoes for the duration of the training. A certificate of completion is provided to the trainee at completion through LCCC’s training institute MERIT – Manufacturing Electronics & Rework Institute for Training.

Intended Audience: No prior technology or manufacturing experience is required. Intended to be exploratory and introductory to anyone interested in what it's like to work in a cleanroom, learn how a semiconductor is manufactured into an integrated circuit (IC) with hands-on lab exercises.
